BIOGRAPHY






Irish born Nicholas Keogh’s background is in visual arts. He represented Northern Ireland at the 2005 Venice Biennale, sponsored by the British Council and selected by CIRCA magazine to represent Republic of Ireland at Experience Pommery #5 L’art en Europe 2008 in France, as well as exhibitions in London, Spain, Portugal, Chicago and New York.

His first documentary short film ‘A Removals Job’ 2012, commissioned by the MAC Belfast, received a Special Commendation at the Cork Film Festival and has been screened widely; at the White Chapel Gallery London, Encounters film festival Bristol, chosen by Dylan Cave (BFI) as one of the stand out films of the festival, Union Docs, New York and toured with FLAMIN in China and Japan.

‘A Film About Bluebottles’, as part of ‘Disconnected’, Golden Thread Gallery; a film documenting shooting flies landing on fridges with a 12 gauge gun, using standard ammunition and DIY solid rounds.

‘Introducing Brian’ which he wrote, is a curiously dark blend of wildlife documentary, alleyway travelogue, sitcom, and drama, based on stories by Brian Brown. It’s a short film observing the curious and dramatic in nature; the wildness of urban ‘wild-life’  which is just below our feet. It won the Belfast Film Festival 2006, was included in the official selection of Raindance London 2015, London Shorts Film Festival 2016 and won the Best of Irish shorts at Cork film festival, 2015.

His 2018 film ‘A Film About Sandhoppers’ where two crustaceans find love on a Belfast beach. Also screened widely; the film was included in the official selection of Cork Film Festival, Dingle Film Festival, Belfast Film Festival, First Cut Film festival, Puerto Vallarta International Film Festival, Mexico, Film Kunst Fest Schwerin, Germany and programmed on RTE player Ireland.

His first feature film ‘The Best Ratter in Ireland’, is currently in production.
